May 5th, 2017

Let me start by saying a huge THANK YOU to all the students and parents who donated to our pet supplies drive for Second Chance!  Our first graders should be so proud that they have helped so many animals!

Here is a snapshot of all the supplies we collected!  The animals will be so happy!

What are we doing in first grade this week?

Reading:  I have started end of the year reading assessments!  Wow!  I'm so proud of the growth these kiddos have made in reading!  Completing reading homework at home has been very instrumental in this growth!  Thank you for taking the time to listen to your 1st Grader read and read to your 1st Grader!

Writing:  We are working on a published opinion book to share with families at our end of the year get together.  Please see the letter enclosed in this week's Friday Folder.

Math:  We started our Geometry Unit!  This is lots of fun for the kiddos because they can use plane shapes and solid figures to build new shapes!  We made shape monsters to hang on our door!  They turned out so great!

Science:  We are working on our Plants and Animals unit in Science.  We planted seeds on Earth Day and have been able to observe our seeds daily!  We used CD cases so we could see all the parts of the plant!  As you can see... Laila Shay's is doing awesome!  We can see the roots, stem, and now the leaf!
